20 October-Michael William Balfe

Opera composer Michael Balfe was born in Dublin in 1808. The Bohemian Girl which contains the aria ‘I Dreamt That I Dwelt in Marble Halls’ is regarded as his most famous composition. There is a large statue of Balfe in the entrance foyer of the Drury Lane Theatre Royal, London. Michael William Balfe died in the year 1870 On This Day
