Saint Idus was made Bishop of Alt Fadha (Longford) in Leinster, Ireland by St Patrick in the fifth century. St Moling (614–697) founded a monastery at St Mullin’s in Co Carlow. St Idus is often invoked in the old Irish prayer which bears the name of St Moling.
Idus was baptised by St Patrick and later became his disciple. He took part in the evangelisation of Ireland. St Idus founded a monastery at Longford. He was later appointed bishop and became known as Idus of Leinster.
The Feast Day of St Idus is celebrated every year On This Day.
