Sigourney Weaver is an actor and film producer who is a native of the United States. She is best known for her roles in films such as ‘Alien’, ‘Ghostbusters’ and Gorillas in the Mist. The recipient of several awards she has appeared in over 60 films during her career to date.
Sigourney Weaver was born Susan Alexandra Weaver in New York in 1949. She graduated with a B.A. degree in English from Stanford University in 1972. In 1974 she was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree by the Yale University School of Drama.
Weaver made her first appearance in a minor role in the film, Annie Hall in 1977. Two years later she achieved fame as Ellen Ripley in the film Alien. Since then she has appeared in films such as Ghostbusters, The Girl in the Park and Avatar. She has been nominated for an Academy Award on three occasions and has won two Golden Globe Awards.
