The arch at the Grafton Street entrance to St Stephen’s Green in Dublin is said to be modelled on the Arch of Titus in Rome. The arch was erected to commemorate the members of the Dublin Fusiliers who fought in the Second Boer War (1899-1902). On the underside of the arch are inscribed the names of the 222 Fusiliers who died in the war in South Africa.
The Fusiliers Arch in St Stephen’s Green, Dublin was dedicated in 1907 On This Day.
